Do you desire to be a vessel strongly used by God to do great things? This is a good desire, but many Christians find this desire far-fetched from them. Interestingly, Christ is looking for people to use to show His power and bring down God’s glory on earth; unfortunately, very few people are ready to be used by Him. This article gives what it takes to be a ready vessel God will use – a surrendered life.

So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple – Luke 14:33 (NKJV).

So he answered and said, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind… ‘” – Luke 10:27 (NKJV).

No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier – II Timothy 2:4 (NKJV).

It’s wonderful picturing oneself doing great signs and wonders in the name of Jesus. But there is a price tag if you are to experience this manifestation of God in your life. It is to totally surrender your life to Jesus, being empty of yourself but full of Christ. It means Jesus being truly your ‘Lord’, whose word is final in your life.

Many times, Christians sing the song, ‘I surrender all to Jesus’ but are withholding some parts of their lives: money, career, desires, and family, sleep and so on. They still want to have control over those areas of their lives. God can’t use you beyond what you are ready to surrender.

The more you surrender to God, the more He will use you. As you surrender any parts of your life, the Holy Spirit takes over those parts. When you totally surrender all of you, the Lord totally takes control of you and you will be full of God, manifesting Him! Any part of your life you withhold from God will not manifest God or enjoy His protection.

You are to surrender your time, energy, thoughts, possessions including your money and certificates, in fact, everything about your life. You are to be fully a follower of Christ and His words as a soldier who only obeys the last command of his superior. A soldier may have his opinions but they are subject to his superior’s approval.

God said you should love Him with all your heart, soul, strength and mind; that’s every part of you. When you truly love God with all of you, you will easily give Him your all, withholding nothing. You need to forsake all that you have to be Christ’s disciple, focusing only on what will please Him.

“What kind of life is that”, you may ask? It is the best life to live, not life of slavery like some people may imagine, but a life full of power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and blessings; a life full of God. When you give your life to Christ you gain it back.

The Almighty wants to manifest His glory on earth, touching and restoring lives but He needs a man to achieve that. As the devil needs a vessel to operate on earth, so also Christ needs a vessel to operate on earth through the Holy Spirit. You can be one of these few vessels that the Lord will use. He wants to speak, think and act through you, use your mouth, hands and legs.

Is it difficult to surrender totally to God? Not at all. You only need a changed mindset, a willingness to give all to Jesus, ready to put aside self and embrace Christ’s instructions, acting only as commanded. The good news is that the Lord is there to help you. He will work in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure, just surrender all first. It’s not by your power or might but by the Spirit of God.

Moses surrendered all to God. People took his meekness for weakness, but that was his strength. God used him greatly and he was greatly honoured. The World, especially the Israelites and Christians, will never forget Moses in their lives. He surrendered all and gained all.

In conclusion, it is possible to be strongly used by God but you must totally surrender to God. It is the best thing to do as a Christian. It promises a life of heaven on earth and at the end eternal life in heaven.
