No matter if you use the services of a professional cleaning company or do the oven cleaning on your own, you must have gone down the aisle with cleaning detergents and got spoilt for choice which one to pick. The wide variety of products gives you the chance to try different cleaning solutions until you find the one that best suits your needs.
However, apart from detergents, you also need a bunch of oven cleaning tools. Without them, you will not have an easy time cleaning at all. Here is a list of said items:
Gloves – The powerful cleaning detergents are capable of lifting off thick layers of grime, which means they are not completely harmless. Therefore, you should avoid direct contact between the detergent and your skin, or you risk getting skin irritations. Always put gloves on before you start the oven cleaning procedure.
Soft brush – Make sure you have a soft brush near at hand so that you can gently scrub the problematic areas without scratching the surface. If you don’t have such a brush, an old toothbrush will do an excellent job.
Paper towels – It does not matter if you use eco-friendly detergents such as a baking soda paste or you prefer the powerful commercial ones, you will have to wipe the oven interior and exterior. Having paper towels at home is the best way to bring back the shiny condition of your appliance.
Microfiber cloths – microfiber clothes will help you remove burnt-on residue, but don’t forget to wash them regularly. Having your rags clean and well-sanitised guarantees the excellent result.
Blunt knife – If you have been postponing oven cleaning for ages, you will most probably have to deal with a thick layer of grime or burnt-on food leftovers. To restore the showroom condition of the oven, you have to apply a cleaning detergent. Let it take effect for 15 minutes and then carefully scrape the loosen dirt and food particles with a blunt knife or a spatula.
A container for racks – Cleaning the racks is probably the most exhausting part of the entire oven cleaning process. However, if you take care of the racks at the very beginning of the procedure, it will be a lot easier to make them shiny. Before you apply some detergent to the interior, take out the racks and submerge them into hot water where you have dissolved some dishwashing liquid. The combination of hot water and dishwashing liquid will loosen the grease, so you will be able to remove it with a sponge and wipe the racks with paper towels.
As you can see, there is a bit more to oven cleaning than the mere application of a product. You have to think about what items and solutions you need for the job and acquire them all. Only then can you hope to get the decent result you are after.
