You would think that a Fitted Kitchen will cost pretty much the same throughout the year, and to a certain extent you would be correct. However despite the seemingly endless “Sales” there are definitely better times to buy Fitted Kitchens.
The best time to buy kitchens is… when they want your business most!
The whole UK fitted kitchen industry revolves around four “Sale” periods as follows:
Period 1.
January – Winter Sale starting Boxing Day – must end last weekend in Janruary
February – Winter Sale magically extends to the end of February
March – No promotions. (Goods have to be shown at “full” price for 28 days before being discounted)
Period 2.
April – Spring Sale starts – coincides with Easter and additional Bank Holiday “specials”
May – Spring Sale magically extends to the end of May
June – No promotions. (Goods have to be shown at “full” price for 28 days before being discounted)
Period 3.
July – Summer Sale starts – must end last weekend in June
August – Summer Sale magically extends to the end of August (Usually the August Bank Holiday weekend)
September – No promotions. (Goods have to be shown at “full” price for 28 days before being discounted)
Period 4.
October – Autumn Sale starts – must end last weekend in October
November – Autumn Sale magically extends to the end of November (to capture the last “fits” before Christmas)
December – No promotions. (Goods have to be shown at “full” price for 28 days before being discounted)
Which brings us full circle back to the next Winter Sale – which will start on Boxing Day.
It is worth noting that December is the month that most kitchen retailers increase their prices (by 3 to 4%)
So, armed with the information above we can deduce when they want our business the most, and therefore… the best time to buy Fitted Kitchens.
- The early days of the sale (Any sale) – The Sales Manager will be desperate to get the sale off to a good start, and will offer additional “above sale discounts”
- The last weekend of the sale (Any sale) – The Sales Manager will be desperate to hit his turnover target (his bonus will depend on it) and will instruct his designers to take deals (any deals) to achieve this
- Bank Holidays – Usually provide additional discounts
These are all good times to buy, but if you want the best possible deal on your new kitchen…
Buy your kitchen in “Non Sale” periods … why?
- The Sales Manager is not expecting sales in a non sale period (his advertising disappears)
- His Turnover Target is much lower, and he does not expect to achieve it (no advertising = no sales leads)
- Your individual order may make his target on it’s own (for him and unexpected bonus!)
- It is worth noting that although there are no “advertised” discounts – the Sales Manager can authorise what he wants (within reason)
So we say the best time to buy kitchens is… when they want your business most!
And that time is… when they are not expecting it to fall into their laps, and it leads to a unexpected bonus!
The very best time of all being… two weeks before Christmas – when no-one else is buying Fitted Kitchens!
