I’ve recently been faced with the question of how to do several things at once. I was trying to stop watching porn, trying to lose weight, trying to quit smoking, just basically trying to get a healthier lifestyle. Over the years I’ve tried to find ways of doing this through nutrition, which is very important, but also over time I’ve been forced to think more and more about the little habits that I include in my day. What kind of tea do I drink? Just about any kind that I like… but chamomile for relaxing and green tea or black tea for waking up are great. But there is also rooibos, ginger, lavender, and so many other kinds. Here are just a few ways that tea has helped me get healthier.
1. It’s helped me stop smoking – Whenever I drink lots and lots of tea, up to ten cups per day, my whole system gets more sensitive and I find it harder to think about tobacco because it tends to make me feel anxious, irritated, and nauseous. If your cravings are out of control, try making yourself drink ten cups of tea every day, and make sure you are using only the best kind of water: reverse osmosis filtered or something similar. Even if you still smoke, I guarantee you will smoke less than you normally do if you are consistently drinking cups of tea, and tea is full antioxidants, so it will help your body resist or fight of the cancer that you may be risking getting from the smoking.
2. It’s helped me lose weight – Yes, when I drink ten or more cups of tea in a day, making sure I am using great water, it fills up my stomach with water, which makes me want to eat less, and when I do eat, I eat lighter. Keep in mind that the tea that you drink doesn’t have to be caffeinated. In fact, you may want to try drinking one or two cups of caffeinated tea, and then making the other cups some form of non-caffeinated herbal tea like chamomile or ginger. Also, you can get green tea extract in pill form, and if you are taking this it will help speed up your metabolism and increase your overall health so as to help you lose weight.
3. It helps me relax – Yes, of course it does this, and it help you wake up, too. If you are drinking tea a lot, you are usually calmer, and this helps you focus on the tasks of your everyday working hours, and it can help you if you choose to develop a meditation practice. It helps you stay awake, to wake up, and to fall asleep, depending on what kind of tea you have. There is a reason why so many of the Buddhist monks drank green tea!
