South Korea is located in the far north-east corner of Asia, just south of the communist-ruled North Korea. Since North Korea became a communist nation many years ago, South Korea has experienced a dramatic surge of growth by contrast. Politically, technologically, economically, culturally, South Korea is worlds ahead of their northern neighbors.

It's not surprising, then, that so many Western men would have drawn to the allure and mystique of Korean women. Korean women are known for their stunning good looks and their bright, intelligent, positive personalities. Greatly influenced by "western culture," Korean women are very acclaimed to American (even European) ideals and outlooks.

English is widely spoken in South Korea and technology plays a very major role in this part of the world. It's probably not important to you, but it's interesting to note that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) made very large investments in Korea as well as Southeast Asia during the financial crises that stuck this part of the world during the 1980s and 1990s.

For this reason, South Korea's technological infrastructure is … to put it mildly … very, very impressive.

All of this is important because the modern world of 21st century international dating and foreign affairs relates heavily on technology. You're simply not going to find the Korean mail order bride of your dreams if she does not have consistent, regular, and reliable access to the web.

So much of the world's electronics are manufactured in South Korea or its neighboring territories. Some household names you may recognize include Samsung and LG.

Economically speaking, there's a lot of growth going on in Korea (with the north excluded, of course) so it's little surprise that as the Internet creates a smaller "global village" every day, that men from the west would begin to seek friendship, romance, love, and even marriage with a Korean woman.

And Korean women are hip to the idea as well.

Attracted by the power and prestige of the west, many of these ladies are seeking companionship with men who hail from powerful western nations. Koreans are well known for their love of travel and world culture. Just as western men are drawn to the exotic nature of the east, Korean women are drawn to the wealth and wonders of America, Europe, and other more developed parts of the world.

Marriage does play a slightly different role in Korea, however. For example, most Korean women do not take the last name of their husband. Interestingly, in order to become legally married in South Korea, a man must be at least 18 but a South Korean girl can be as young as 16.

Some Korean men are also looking abroad, marrying women from other nearby Asian countries instead of marrying within their own national boundaries. Perhaps this explains why so many South Korean brides are finding love abroad as well.
