This striking building dates back centuries and has strong links with today's Royal Family – having been the childhood home of the late Queen Mother. William Shakespeare also chose the castle as the setting of his famous tragedy Macbeth.

The most famous tale concerns the Monster of Glamis – the first born son of one of the Earls of Strathmore in the early 1800s who was poorly deformed and believed to have died a few days after his birth.
In fact, it is rumored he lived an unnaturally long life, but was passed over in favor of his younger brother and kept hidden in a secret chamber inside the building – the castle is still visible on its exterior than can be found inside.
A further famous legend concerns Earl Beardie – thought to be Alexander, Earl Crawford – who is said to haunt the castle after he made a deal with the devil to gamble at cards until Doomsday.
