As a bonafide Christian soldier, your enlistment in the army of the Lord came completely by the grace and mercy that God made available and still is making available to us. You’ll draw strength by the grace that’s in Jesus Christ to sustain you in the daily battles. The most compelling strategies to win as the soldier of the cross involve these five powerful keys.

1. Knowledge – See 2 Corinthians 2:11

Jesus made it explicitly clear to his disciples the power of knowledge in dealing with divine truths. We read, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32, KJV).

Knowledge places you in a position of power, control, and empowerment which provides the confidence to deal wisely with the devil. The scripture says, “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians: 11, KJV). Satan can only have an upper hand against us if we walk unaware of the ongoing plots. Let it be clear to you as the soldier of the cross that Satan and his demonic host are the arch-enemies to watch. Just like in real battle, you must keep your eyes on all the movements and formations of the enemy to win the fight.

2. Preparation

You cannot fight the battle naked and unprepared. It’s important to take the whole weapon of spiritual warfare as recorded and instructed in the scriptures, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:10, KJV). The Christian soldier doesn’t sleep when duty calls. Such a person must have the heart of endurance ready to do battle, it is written, “Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier” (2 Timothy 2:3-4, KJV). You cannot be caught up with the worldly appeal and fight to win as the Christian soldier in the worldly landscape.

3. Obedience

This battle demands diligence, therefore it’s absolutely required that you obey the leadership of God’s Spirit and his written word. Satan capitalizes on disobedient Christians by ensnaring them into all vices of the mind and flesh thereby draining their energy to battle.

Prayer is one of the biggest weapons in the Christian soldier’s life. The bible instructions us to pray always – praying without ceasing. Jesus implied that a life of prayer, will safe-guard you from temptations. You must obey this command and never try to argue over this subject. Obedience has no substitute in the life of the Christian soldier.

4. Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

You’re not called to re-invent the war but to place your faith and act on the finished instruments of victory in Christ. His death, burial and resurrections preached in faith are the source of victory. You have to stand steadfastly in faith on the promises of Christ, expecting the devil and his demonic host to obey you.

Victory has been worn already by Jesus Christ for the Christian soldier. Satan has no choice but to comply when we stand by faith in Jesus Name confronting his plots.

5. Be on offensive not defensive.

The charge goes off for the Christian soldier that absolutely must be adhered to. We read, “Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7, KJV). You’ve to be on alert ready to thwart every plan of Satan against you, your friends and your loved ones. You’re the soldier, therefore fight on daringly.

Remember to win this fight on your part requires being constantly diligent and on the move. The Christian soldier has been endowed with the power of the Holy Ghost for a victorious life. Fight on victory is on your side.
