Museums

There are a number of free museums in Barcelona where you can visit with your kids. There are a number of museums suitable for kids in the city. The night of the museums occurs once a year in May for a free fun evening. Most of the public museums offer free entrance after 3 pm every Sunday.

Magic fountain and the MNAC

You can enjoy and catch the nighttime musical dancing fountain show at Placa Espanya. The kids will love it. Synchronized water is accompanied by loud music. It lasts for fifteen minutes and runs every half an hour. If your kids are interested in art, you can take them to Catalonia’s National Art Museum that offers free entry after 3:30 PM on Saturday evenings.

Montjuic Castle

Children will love exploring the castle. This fortress is situated on a mountain and you can enjoy great views. Down from the bridge, there is a cafeteria where you can have some snacks and a playground with some impressive slides for the children. You can also enjoy a picnic with your family as there is a picnic area. If you like walking, you can go to the grassy area just left to the entrance.

The beach

Barcelona is known for a long stretch of sandy coastline. You can take your kids to the beach for a cool and refreshing swim. Bogatell beach is one of the most popular beaches in Barcelona to go with your kids.

Public parks: Parc de la Ciutadella

It is a beautiful place and the site for the universal exhibition of 1888. It is located in the center of the city. It is the best place for a picnic. The park is equipped with ping pong tables, a lake with ducks and geese, playgrounds, a giant mammoth sculpture, and a beautiful fountain.

Horta Labyrinth Park: Have you ever tried a real-life labyrinth? This is the best park to have fun with the whole family. Entry to the park is free on Wednesday and Sundays. It is a beautiful area to explore but you cannot do a picnic here.

Catalan tradition displays at the Cathedral

If you want to teach your children the culture of the region, you can take them to the Cathedral church. You can watch traditional Catalan folk activities around the cathedral on every Saturday during the summer months at 7:30 PM. Your children will have a lot of fun viewing human castles, Giants, and stick dancers.
