Are you really sick and tired of the same old look that was provided by Microsoft when you purchased your Xbox initially? You want to change the look and the operating system but you really don’t know how to do it. Well, my friends you are in luck because I will explain how to run Windows 98 on your Xbox platform. Now the first question that pops up in you mind is “Why would I want to run Windows 98 on my Xbox?” The answer to question is simple. You can do it. And now as most of you ask about the legality of this, as we will use the software that are all free but a copy of Windows that you already have, so it is legal in every aspect. And good news for all of you is that you will need to have no such knowledge of Linux and all you need is a modded Xbox and a Windows 98 bootable CD. The first thing that you will need to do it to install Xdsl, which is available on a lot of websites. Once you have installed it will contain KNOPPIX folder and linuxboot.cfg, which you will need to copy to the E drive of you Xbox. Now run it and from the Xdsl read me run default.xbe and choose FatX. The important thing that you need to keep in mind is to make an ISO image of your Windows CD; this can be done using Alcohol 120%. Once you boot the program all you have to do is to follow the simple steps.
When the first window appears all you to type 98lite.exe and for the second window all you have to do is to press enter and hit R on the next question. It will start to copy some files and for the next two screens that you see you just have to press 1 on the both of the screens. Once the 98lite has finished it will require you to press Enter and the installation will start, it is as easy as installing Windows on a computer. Once the window is installed you need to run Start. bat and it will boot the Windows. In the end copy the qemu folder, win98.img and 98.sh from the kit you downloaded to your Xbox’s E: folder and run the Xdsl as usual. Once booted all you need to do is to open xterminal and type sh/cdrom/98.sh and you are running the Windows on your Xbox console.
